Rii Mini Keyboard – Backlit

(6 customer reviews)

Why a miniature keyboard?

Have you ever tried to use a Web browser on a TV with standard remote control.. its very frustrating, one wrong button and you have to start over.

Why would you bother?

  • Small light stylish, looks at home in living room
  • Ideal for Xbox, Pay station, Google devices
  • Ideal for Android Smart TV / HTPC Raspberry Pi KP-810-10AL
  • Great for controlling media player or KODI, Plex media servers
  • Essential if Personal Cloud NAS not located beside the TV and you need a Wireless controller for media server/player

Considering – 2.4Ghz

  • 2.4Ghx range is approx 30 feed, less if there are doors, walls, furniture
  • The device your connecting with must have a spare USB port to plug in dongle
  • Removing, replacing WiFi Dongles in a device regularly to attach other devices may give you problems
  • 2.4 Ghx network is crowded with devices, interference possible, fortunately this device will not use bandwidth of other devices

Considering BlueTooth

  • Not all devices accept blue tooth, you need to check the device has blue tooth before ordering
  • If accepts BlueTooth you dont use up a USB port
  • If Bluetooth can connect to several devices (i.e. Control a device in Living room, and walk into bedroom and control another)
  • Shorter range, designed to be used in front of the device your controlling

Question: does it work with linux or ubuntu operating systems?
Answer: YES! I bought this for my HTPC which is running Ubuntu 12.04. This unit was plug-and-play with zero configuration required. It works flawlessly on my HTPC.

I don’t know. It takes a usb for the micro receiver with no instlation required for a windows driven pc.

    Question: how to operate
Answer: Not very specific as a question, but I think what you’re wondering is how it works. I use it with a ps4 right now, but I’d imagine all systems work about the same. Basically it comes with a plug and cable for charging the battery and a separate dongle to connect over wifi. You plug that dongle (remove the device’s backplate and its a little dongle snapped in a holder) into your system and then turn the device on. When you want to charge it, you plug it into a usb port connected to the cable and let it charge. Plugging the USB cable to charge will not bridge a connection to use the device, but plugging the little wifi dongle in should connect it automatically. see less

It has a touch pad like a laptop. It has some short cuts on he touch pad. It has many special function keys and left right mouse keys. The keys are rubber and have a nice action.

I got one of these 6 months back, no regrets easy to setup.

So glad I got one of these to run my Media Server, the ability to type instead of using the remote control to dance through an onscreen keypad is brilliant, and the backlight completes the package when your chillaxing at nite.

I chose the Riii i6 – Rii Mini 2.4G Rii i6 3 In 1 Wireless Keyboard because you turn it over and it has a conventional Universal remote on the other side.. Means I don’t need a second device to turn on/off power and navigate TV menus, this is worth a look @smikbox as well.
